Well hello there, reader! Let me take this second sentence to introduce myself – I’m Donell James Foreman. Yes, all three names. Or, you can call me The DJF – I answer to either. I’m twenty-one years old and am an actor for New York (who isn’t, right?). I am very excited to be writing for QueerVoice and I hope you all enjoy what I bring to the table.
A little about myself? Well, I am currently on the national tour of Mamma Mia! taking the US of A by storm. I’ve been on tour for approximately 23 months now – I did Hairspray right before I joined this tour. I’ve been living out of a suitcase this whole time, and I haven’t slept in my own bed in ages. Touring the country definitely has its ups and downs depending on the day, but the best part is that I get to see all the corners of the country; including lots of places I would never think to go. I even went to South Dakota, if that’s any indication. I call it, vacation during the day, and work at night.
For the most part the tour stays in each city for a week – which brings us to my column! I am going to be bringing you all the happenings from gaybourhoods across the country (and even some Canada!). I will check out all the bars, clubs, and events from city to city. And we’ve got some good ones coming up – Boston, Toronto, New Orleans, Atlanta, Miami, Montreal, and many more. So join me on my journey across the country as we hit up the hottest spots and leave a trail of flags in our wake.
Do you have an event coming up in your city and you’d like me to check it out? Do you have any questions, comments, or tidbits you’d like to share? If so, feel free to send me an email at Donell@QueerVoice.net. Hope to hear from you all soon.
