Fox News has declared that they are in a “war” with the White House. This makes “war” #4,567 for Fox. Among them, the “war on christmas” the “war on traditional values” not to mention the “culture war.”
Fox is upset because the administration is ignoring them and has even commented that fox isn’t a news organization.
White House Communication Director Anita Dunn told TIME magazine
“It’s opinion journalism masquerading as news,” Dunn says. “They are boosting their audience. But that doesn’t mean we are going to sit back.”
Here is the always brilliant Rachel Maddow with reasons why Fox isn’t a news channel.
I say Rachel is brilliant not just because I agree with her, but because she actually does what a reporter is supposed to do and brings more information to the table for the discussion.
She doesn’t have to resort to outbursts of tears and crazy conspiracy theories to gain viewers.
Granted, Maddow is indeed an opinion and editorial program, but the difference between Maddow and Olberman and the dog and pony show masquerading as debate called Glenn Beck and his fellow Fox host Sean Hannity is that Maddow and Olberman base their opinion in fact.
They don’t need to create faux connections between Obama and chairman Mao, or Stalin. Indeed they have criticized the administration on things such as transparency and health care reform themselves.
The White House is correct in treating Fox like an arm of the Republican party.
It’s what they are.
