Over the Mountain Democrats Gubernatorial Forum Tonight

OTM-Dems-logoThe Over the Mountain Democrats are sponsoring a gubernatorial forum tonight featuring Agricultural Commissioner Ron Sparks and Congressman Artur Davis (D-7th District).  The forum will be held at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and begin at 6:30 PM, but I suggest arriving early to beat the crowd.

Come and bring your questions for the candidates.  See you there!

ETA:  Feel free to post your questions in comments.  I’ll be happy to pass them along if you can’t attend tonight.

  1. I miss a lot now that the hubby is working late, but I do have a question if you get a chance…

I’m offering the same challenge to every single congressman, and that includes Democrats. While Davis is running for governor, he’s still a congressman at present. Ask him if he’s willing to, in order to instill confidence in the American public, opt out of his public health care plan and go with a private plan and then adopt whatever plan Congress crafts.

  2. Earlier this week, President Obama voice criticism over DOMA. Rep. Davis, as governor, what will you do to extend rights to GLTB individuals and couples?

  3. Kathy says:

AlMod, Spencer Bachus told us last night that Congress has a private health insurance plan now. He sort of glossed over the taxpayer-funded part. :)

James, I want an answer to that question, too.

  4. “private health insurance plan”?

    He lied.

  5. Kathy says:

He did a lot of that. Said he voted against the bailout w/o mentioning his yes vote for the banks (for it before he was against it) and told the crowd Obama’s plan would cover illegal immigrants. Plenty of red meat for the base.

  6. Helen Moore says:

I would like to become involved with the Over the Mountain Democrats. How I do get on a list for notices of meetings and events?

  7. Kathy says:

Helen, go to http://otmdems.org. In the left sidebar, you’ll see a place to enter your email address and join the mailing list. It’s a great group; I hope you’ll come out to future events.
