Danny reports that state Sen. Hank Erwin (R-Montevallo) is running for Lt. Governor. That would be same Hank Erwin who opined back in September 2005 that Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were God’s punishment for the sin and wickedness of New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Erwin acknowledged that plenty of “innocent” people had suffered as well, but blamed that on God, too — according to Hank, smiting frequently results in collateral damage.
Here’s a thought: perhaps the prospect of Hank Erwin as Lt. Governor is God’s punishment to the people of Montevallo who had the poor judgment to send him to the Senate in the first place. And if he’s elected, I guess the rest of us will be the suffering innocents.
Cam Ward has expressed interest in running for Erwin’s seat, so I say Erwin should by all means run for Lt. Governor– and lose.
That sounds like a plan. Ward is too conservative for my taste, but he doesn’t go around spouting stuff like the above — and I bet he won’t pose with a bunch of sweet young things for a billboard, either.
I just spewed my dinner.
Surely his opponent’s ads would practically write themselves. All you’d need was a handful of clips of the Katrina-is-God’s-wrath nonsense and similar (I’m sure it’s out there). The YouTube version could splice them with stuttering rap-style repeats (”wr-wr-wr-wrath of God. God. Wrath of God”) and funny animation, and the TV version would just be straight replays, perhaps alternating with shots of Katrina victims, funerals of Katrina victims, shattered houses, etc.

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. God woman that did me in!
Glad you liked it.
