Jeff brings it on home

Okay. So today I read that of the 35 senators who opposed the cloture motion for the omnibus spending bill last night, 28 had solo earmarks in it.  Now, Shelby voted Yea, but Sessions voted Nay. Could it be…is there any pork for Alabama in the bill? Why yes.  A link in the MSNBC article opens up an Excel file from Taxpayers for Common Sense, which shows Alabama at number nine (9) in overall dollar value ($240,157,167) and number fourteen (14) per capita ($52.51) with its 209 earmarks, of which (according to MSNBC) 12 are solo earmarks for Sessions totaling $4.3 million. (But he’s a piker compared to McConnell – 36 earmarks for $51 million.)

I don’t know how to find out how many Shelby had in there.

However: all the earmarks put together are only 2% of the spending in the bill. So, why not? Ooh, I wonder what we’re gonna get.

    Nicely put!

Just sent y’all an e-mail about this advice for anyone who is going to the PACT meeting in Montgomery tomorrow.

Important to get connected with as many people as possible, if you go.

Sorry I didn’t get this to you sooner.

Shelby’s are here: Sessions’ are here (thanks to waltm at Danny’s). At least Shelby was honest enough to vote for the bill. Sessions gets to grandstand about what a fiscal conservative he is, all the while knowing the bill will pass and he’ll get to bring home all that hog product.

Thanks, Kathy, and Danny and Walt. Well, that was interesting reading. Half a million for “Team Focus,” a program that helps fatherless young men “achieve the ultimate victory – walking in the destiny God has planned for them.” In fact, youth mentoring overall seems to be the hot new thing.
