Enough with the titillation already

A friend just forwarded this link with the message, “Absolute best investigative reporting on John’s little lady.” In this hard-hitting piece of journalism, we learn that Rielle “inspired” a character in an old Jay McInerney novel—one that was apparently out of print, but has been resurrected. What a boost for Mr. McInerney!

Here we are with WWIII possibly about to break out over in the Caucasus, but America is focused on an affair a guy who didn’t come close to winning the Democratic primary is having had a while back. Oh, and also beach volleyball, which is an Olympic sport. I don’t keep up with Olympic stuff and I swear to God when the husband told me it was an official Olympic sport I thought he was kidding. Hey, I’m sure it’s a tough, demanding sport, and exciting viewing for its many fans. And the, um, uniforms are designed to facilitate easy movement. And prevent chafing.

They have another version of volleyball. The women play indoors and actually get to wear clothes.

Have you noticed that the MENS’ beach volleyball, player get to wear at least 5 times as much fabric as the women players. If guys get a good look at the women players’ bods, why do women not get a good look at the men? Such blatant sexism!

Yes — and just another way in which our society discriminates against gay men :)

My mother emailed the other day asking for an online schedule of Olympic events, with special emphasis on beach volleyball. I’m pretty sure she grew up playing it, albeit with lots more clothes, but my first reaction was “huh?”

And the more clothes for men rule is definitely discriminatory. :)
