A Good Crowd for Pride Parade

All reports I’ve heard and seen from last night’s Pride parade say turnout was high and fun was had by all. There were a few protesters from a church in Georgia. I think they’d be called “outside agitators” if they were here to espouse a progressive cause.

PRIDEFest will be held this afternoon and evening at Sloss Furnace. Everyone is welcome, but be sure to dress for the heat and drink lots of water. For more information, click here.

I missed it this year, but so glad to hear it went well.

John McCain really doesn’t like our workers.

I WAS THERE!!! Inadvertently, but still!! I got tons of beads and some free condoms!! Proud to be a supporter of the Birmingham gay community!!!

I went to the parade with my daughter just to show my support. That’s the only reason I went - I’m not really a parade person. It seemed like a lot of fun, and it was a cool crowd except for a couple of hopped-up young people (could have been Red Bull or something stronger). I didn’t go to PrideFest but my daughter took two of her straight friends and they had a good time. I think it’s great that there are events that a teenager can go to. It’s definitely more sedate than Mardi Gras!

Next year, I’ll see all of you there!
