Well, my gut is in knots about it. A Slate commenter, I think it was, was rebutting the argument that the fundamentalists aren't going to turn out in droves to vote for McCain just to see their man as VP---that you vote for the president, not the vice-president. This commenter said something like, "well, these are people who believe in divine intervention in our lives, so the prospect of their man being 'one heartbeat away' might take on special meaning."

Kiki, there's no need to apologize. Ann Coulter is a publicity whore. She will say anything if she thinks it will sell books or net her a few TV interviews. It's pathetic that anyone thinks she represents their interests -- she is out for herself, first and foremost. I really hope she and Rush and their ilk screw up so badly during this election cycle that they are consigned to well-deserved obscurity.

Del, I don't know. It's been reported that Mitt is widely hated by the other Republican candidates. I can't see McCain voluntarily choosing him as his running mate, but who can say? The PTB might insist on it in exchange for their support. I still think Huckabee's chances are good, but that's just my gut talking.

I am sorry, but I really need to get this off of my chest--as much as I despise Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, I would have to say that Ann Coulter is the worst--I think she may be related to Satan! What a scary and evil person--the things she says are so demeaning and not to mention very high school--maybe she really just has a maturity problem. I mean, a lack of it. There is no accounting for her hateful rhetoric and personal attacks. She seems bound and determined to just be ugly. I am embarrased for the people she claims to represent in this country.

So...does this mean more, less, or the same chance of a McCain/Huckabee ticket?
