The Birmingham Peace Project organized a wonderful program on Saturday evening featuring Rev. Lennox Yearwood, leading the Hip Hop Caucus, http://www.hiphopcaucus.org/, in organizing under 35′s to become politically and socially active, as well as a powerful message from spoken-word artist Shariff Simmons and music by bluesman Willie King.

Birmingham took another step in honoring Dr. King’s legacy at this morning’s Unity Breakfast, where NCLR chief Janet Murguia delivered a well-crafted speech that liberally acknowledged African-American leadership on Civil RIghts and also advocated working together to forge a common agenda for the good of all America. http://www.nclr.org/content/viewpoints/detail/50213/

And members of my Church joined a substantial number of members of the Coalition for the Homeless at the noon march from Linn Park to the 16th St. Baptist Church.
