Current border policy has also blocked the circularity of earlier years, where people would come, work and go home. Now, unable to come and go and feeling stuck, workers miss their families, so bring even more people. It is also important to look at how U.S. military and trade policies have created or helped to create desperate situations for people in Mexico, Central America and Colombia, for example. We need a realistic visa policy to bring in, in orderly fashion, workers for jobs that truly can't be filled, a living wage, and enforcement of laws that protect all workers from exploitation. It's entirely another when their actions affect you personally and violate the law. I, too, grew up in Alabama, knew they existed, but we rarely crossed paths except when you would see the little signs in the grass saying, "Klan Rally Tonite" with an arrow. I guess every generation has to be taught that bullying others under a sheet is not acceptable behaviour. I encourage anyone who is affected personally by suspected Klan behavior to contact both the Southern Poverty Law Center as well as the Department of Justice. Klanners were off their rockers in the 1960's and 40+ years later, they are still off their rocker, only now they are trying to get respect through "Christian deportment". Tain't no such thing with a Klan member. Some appear to be in positions of authority within our military troops serving in Iraq and if you have the misfortune of serving under them you will find that they ignore military courtesies and, instead, follow established klan relationships.
