Patrick Cooper has filed a contest of the Birmingham mayor’s election in Jefferson County Circuit Court, saying Larry Langford should be disqualified because he does not live in the city. Cooper wants the court to void the results and order a special election that would include the remaining qualified candidates. No word yet on how long it might take the judge to rule.
So far, the comments at al.com are a running snipefest of “Langford should step aside”, “No, Cooper should step aside”, with a couple of references to whining and buried bodies. I’d elaborate on that last one if I could, but, alas, the commenter did not provide details.
