Fun Things To Do This Weekend

If you’re in the Birmingham area, head down to the Civic Center for Equality Alabama’s annual Day of Equality (details here).  ADDENDUM:  Posting in a hurry, I didn’t mention that Pam Spaulding of Pam’s House Blend will be here to lead two workshops.

In Athens, you can protest racism and circle the Klan with love at 2:30 pm (scroll down at the link to see a, um, colorful picture of some typical Klan members). If you’re going from Birmingham, carpoolers are meeting in the Greater Birmingham Ministries parking lot at 1:00 pm. I’d just like to point out that the Klan has to come all the way from Indiana to demonstrate here in the supposedly backward South.

And for those in Montgomery, Alabama Arise holds its annual meeting tomorrow, beginning at 9:30 am, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2810 Atlanta Highway. Arise members will set issue priorities for the upcoming legislative year.

I have to admit that the Klan members’ outfits are kind of pretty! I’m so glad that they have gotten away from all-white (at least in their costumes), particularly after Labor Day.

    “…particularly after Labor Day.”

    !
