Montgomery Denies Alcohol Counseling
Birmingham City Council member Joel Montgomery is vehemently denying reports that he underwent alcohol counseling as a condition of the deal to dismiss public intoxication charges against him, even though the special prosecutor says counseling is standard in cases like this one. In fact, Montgomery’s attorney insists that the councilman was not drunk at all, even though the police report indicates that he not only appeared intoxicated but also made abusive and sexually suggestive comments to the arresting officer. Okay, that last part doesn’t prove he was drunk. I’ve seen him act like an asshole when he’s sober.
“The statements were completely false then, and they are completely false today,” Montgomery said during the City Council meeting. “I have never been to alcohol rehabilitation, and I have no reason to enroll in any alcohol rehabilitation counseling.”
Um, yeah. Sure, Joel. Because not-drunk people trip over curbs and fall flat on their faces all the time.

I think you only have to go the alcohol rehab if you forget to wear undergarments and have your “bits a pieces” all over the internet — or if you are arrested drunk and with cocaine in your bluejean pocket — that of course doesn’t belong to you.
So what if he is a joke and falls flat on his face and hits on a police officer . . . Come on Kathy . . . give him a break!

I know, Susan. I’m so cruel to the poor hapless man. Shouldn’t pick on people who can’t even walk across a parking lot — sober as a judge, of course — without kissing the concrete.
