Rafting

We’re in the midst of the beautiful western North Carolina mountains (that’s “hills” for those who have been to the Rockies), and today we’re going rafting on the Nolichucky River.

So in a couple of hours we’ll be white-knuckling it down raging rapids…uh, not so much.  We’re going for the kinder, gentler trip.  That could be because I’m a big chicken.  :)

Your rafting trip looked awesome. Looks like you guys were having a blast. Cooool.

The week after Labor Day we are going tubing on the Frio River, which is clear, almost like a swimming pool; just better because of the miraculous beauty of nature.

I must come clean and admit that’s not us in the picture. It’s some random shot from Google Images. We couldn’t go whitewater rafting because 9YOD is too young. She doesn’t think she’s too young, but the rafting companies have age restrictions. We ended up tubing instead.

Your trip sounds lovely! I looked up the Frio River, and it’s just beautiful.

    Kathy,

Our ranch is a, more than, full-time job. We are soooo looking forward to kayacking, floating in the river and taking naps. Our cell phones, nor laptops will work there. There are no phones in the cabins. So, we WILL be suffering micromanagemnt withdrawal. LOL. We should be over it about the first day in the river.

Both the Frio and the Nueces Rivers are gorgeous. The parts we have seen have a gentle, relaxing flow. I am hoping we do not get into parts that might be rougher that we expect. I have no experience at this. I am sure the locals will advise us.

Even though you guys could not white-water raft, I am glad you were able to get away from the big city.—————-good for the soul
