Telling Comment of the Day

Tony Snow, continuing White House attempts to denigrate Congressional oversight:

On CNN’s The Situation Room, Snow said the White House “will respond in due course” to the Rove subpoena. But he added, “Let me point out that we have actually made Karl Rove available to that committee under conditions where he’s going to tell the truth.” [emphasis mine]

Right.  Rove would tell the truth if those meanies in Congress didn’t force him to swear that he’s telling the truth.  And force him to tell it on the record.  Pull the other one, Tony.

“Under conditions where he’s going to tell the truth.” Which implies that there are other conditions under which he might not.

Perhaps Mr. Rove found out at an impressionable age that the story about George Washington and the cherry tree was apocryphal, and it scarred him somehow.

I was shocked to see how bad Tony Snow looks. He’s aged 20 years and he sounds like an old, tired man. Chemo has aged him terribly.

Christopher, he does look bad, and I feel terrible for him and what he’s enduring. I just wish he’d have a very premature Lee Atwater moment and repent. The ongoing belittlement and pretense are wearing on him as much as the rest of us.

Del, that would explain it. :)

And ugh, indeed. The Bush administration is far past its sell-by date.

  4. Bill says:

Tony Snow acts like Scott McClellan in need of an enema.

“conditions where he’s going to tell the truth.” I had Rove figured for one of those guys who only tells the truth when it serves his purpose. Can’t imagine that would be in testimony to a Congressional committee.
