The Argo Saga Continues…

…with more heavy-handed tactics by the town government.  Town leaders are appealing the certification of a petition requesting a vote on annexation into Springville, and they mailed copies of the court filing to all 360+ citizens who signed the petition.  This wasn’t some official service of court documents; those require proof of delivery.  It was just another scare tactic.

According to previous statements from Argo’s leadership, the town’s revenues shouldn’t be “wasted” on an election, but they apparently stretch far enough to pay for photocopying and mailing a 17-page document in an attempt to intimidate the citizens who dared to go on record in support of an annexation that the leaders don’t want.  I smell desperation.

Perhaps it’s time for the citizens of Argo to petition for a recall election.

I’ve been sitting on this one all week, too. I wasn’t sure if they’d mail them, but I had a feeling… Remember when I said this would get better? This was what I was talking about. There’s more, too, and I’m having to sit on THAT right now.
