Legislative Business As Usual

Let’s see what our guys have been up to the last couple of days:

Oh, and Rudy Giuliani spoke.

I’m feeling a little under the weather today.  You can tell because I can’t think of anything snarky to write.

Sorry to hear it, Kathy. Hope you feel better.

  2. Kathy says:

Thanks! It doesn’t help that I’m also working on taxes. :)

    feel better Kathy!

I’m in denial about taxes – those 2 extra days have translated to endless time in my mind, I guess. I’m going away for the weekend and, although I know I should get them done before I go, I keep thinking there’s plenty of time.

Rudy sucks. so do most of the legislators, local and non. business as usual, life goes on. we rest today to fight the good fight tomorrow.

    ……good vibes……..

Thanks, Chris! I didn’t know about the two extra days till I was almost through the whole TurboTax routine. Fortunately, ours are so simple they really don’t take long. Have a fun weekend!

I hope you feel better soon, Kathy.

On taxes: I wonder how much it costs the state to process a Form 40. Actually, I wonder if it loses money processing my Form 40 which I had to submit with my check for $7 because the threshold is still too low. One year my check was for only $3. Does this indicate I live below the poverty level? No, it only means that I happen to fall into one of too many groups whose retirement income isn’t taxed in Alabama. Just take a look in the Form 40 booklet to see who gets a free pass.

  6. Kathy says:

Don, good question on the cost. We e-filed, which should be cheaper than paper processing, but who knows?

    Taxes? Huh? What? ;-)

    “Taxes? Huh? What?”

That was me till yesterday, and I whipped through them so fast they don’t really feel done. I’m just glad TuboTax checks for math errors.

  9. [...] Danny at Doc’s Political Parlor says there’s a possibility that the Alabama Senate will remove at least some of the amendments its committee added to Rep. Jeff McLaughlin’s PAC-to-PAC transfer ban before voting to pass it. [Danny’s source in the legislature says] Yes, there is some sense that the House may not pass the version that came out of Senate Committee, and that if the bill does not pass this year, the Senate will take the blame. You have [House Speaker] Seth Hammett over there saying that “the House passes this bill every year.” Look to see some of the amendments that were added in committee taken off on the Senate floor [to get a bill that the House may pass].
