Romney Surprises GOP Rivals In Fundraising Race

Mitt Romney has raised $21 million during the first quarter of 2007, outpacing current front-runner Rudy Giuliani ($15 million) and John McCain ($12.5 million).  I wonder if Romney’s big numbers have anything to do with his Alabama money laundering scheme. After all, he didn’t actually declare his candidacy till February 13. He was probably milking those campaign finance loopholes for all they were worth up till that point.

I bet Rudy and McCain are wishing they’d thought of it.  Or maybe they did.  Given Alabama’s serpentine PAC system, we’ll probably never know.
