Cheney On the Attack (What a Surprise…)

The Dark Vice-Lord of Mordor emerged from his undisclosed location and came to Birmingham yesterday to shill for Jeff Sessions.  As usual, he spent his time equating dissent with treason and threatening those who don’t agree with the Dear Leader.  Well, he did spare a couple of minutes to praise Sessions, who, if he really was as ”smart” as Cheney says he is, would stay as far as possible away from the imploding mess that is Bushco.

Oh, what am I saying?  This is Alabama, where the Republican party can still scare up 500 people who are willing to shell out $1,000 to listen to Shooter Cheney shoot off his mouth.  At least the rest of the country is wising up to crap like this:

Vice President Dick Cheney said in Birmingham on Monday that the Democratic-controlled Congress must learn there is only one commander in chief, and he lives in the White House.

Criticizing congressional resolutions supporting the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, Cheney said, “The fact is that the United States military answers to one commander in chief in the White House, not 535 commanders in chief on Capitol Hill.

“We expect the House and Senate to meet the needs of our military on time, in full and with no strings attached,” Cheney told an audience of about 500 at The Club…

…”It’s [the current funding bill] nothing less than an attempt to force the president’s hand,” said Cheney. “They’re going to find out they’ve misread George W. Bush.”

Uh huh.  And “bring it on” and “mission accomplished” and “dead or alive”, right, Dick?  Sorry, pal, but the Congress isn’t there to give in to George’s temper tantrums.  It’s there to be a check and balance on the power of a man who’s forgotten his limitations.

Five-deferments-I-had-other-priorities Cheney got lots of cheers from the crowd at The Club yesterday — not surprising, given that it was, as usual for the Bushies, an invitation-only event — but voters went to the polls in November and made it very clear that they were sick of one-party rule with no questions and no accountability.  So take a deep breath, Dick.  And while you’re at it, take a copy of the Constitution back to your undisclosed location.  And read it.

Oh my God….there are people out there that LIKE the Dark Vice Lord of Mordor. Oh my God. I am laughing so hard that it hurts!!! Moonbats….Oh my God. This is rich. Keep up the good work Kathy!

What’s even more pathetic than the Dick avoiding military service, is that those who were listening to the jerk most likely never served either. That’s one thing about the Repugs, they talk but they don’t sign up and fight. Draft Republicans…

  5. Kathy Says:

Cindi, I thought the same thing about the rich white folks who almost certainly made up the crowd here — I didn’t go, guess my invitation got lost in the mail.

Bill, isn’t that a hoot? The guy’s approval rating is 18%, and I’m supposed to be the moonbat?

  6. Del Says:

Well, I spent a good deal of time last night admiring what I was informed was the Paschal moon. So sign me up on the moonbat list too.

Thespis Journal: Swear to God, at first I thought it was a spoof site. I love the part where they said Cheney is the man most qualified to be President of the United States. Was that a little dig at Dubya? I guess I could find out by reading more on their site - but that won’t be happening. I’d Rather Be Ironing.

I thought it must be a spoof site too when I first clicked over. But, alas, these folks apparently do believe that Cheney would be the Best! President! Ever!

yeah, he’s been waiting 57 DAYS!!! did you catch that stomping of the imperial foot?

there are people - hard working, tax paying people, who are 57 days late on their mortgage payments who are going to lose their homes. george is afraid he’ll lose his war and his profits. let’s hope the congress remembers why they’re there, and for whom they work. it isn’t george, and it isn’t (the) dick.

  12. Kathy Says:

Yeah, Chris, and the most vacationed President we’ve ever had criticized Congress for taking a spring break. Didn’t hear him trashing the do-nothing Congress of 2006 — for hardly working, or for taking around four months to send him an emergency appropriations bill, or for larding the bill with pork. I guess IOKIYAR.

And did you see the video of Cheney lurking in the shrubbery while George threw his fit?

  13. chris Says:

eeeew, I wish I hadn’t seen that video just before bedtime. I’ll probably have nightmares of cheney in the bushes in my back yard.

it did make me imagine lil’ george stomping his foot and saying he wanted to ride his bike, he didn’t want to make a dumb old speech. and cheney saying “oh, you will make that speech, and you will say exactly what I told you to say. I’ll be watching - from an undisclosed location.”
