Valerie has always been VERY supportive of the GLBT community. She’s also on my Board (Scenic Alabama) and really works hard to make Birmingham a better place. I’m going to try and go to the Council meeting. Beware - it could be literally hours before they get to the resolution, unless the Council president lets Valerie take it up early in the meeting. But don’t let that stop you - it never hurts to see your government in action/inaction!

[...] I’m off to the Birmingham City Council meeting.  Here’s John Archibald’s column supporting Valerie Abbott’s inclusion resolution, which is supposed to be on this morning’s agenda.  Happy reading!  I’ll update after the meeting. [...]

Our country, in spite of an outstanding Pledge of Allegiance - has a long, demonstrated history of not showing a great amount of interest in attaining that goal.

Bonnie, your comment is borne out by this morning’s vote. It was really disappointing.
