If our US Attorney system is compromised by partisan politics, none of us can trust it. That's the real tragedy in this whole scandal - that every prosecution of an elected official is now questionable. And in Siegelman's case, he could have a point. In light of everything that's come out, his indictment and prosecution could very well have been strictly political.
