		<description>This is indeed the core of the problem.  If our US Attorney system is compromised by partisan politics, none of us can trust it.  Bushco may believe that loyalty trumps competence and principles, but I would hope the rest of the country would reject that idea.</description>

		<description>I wonder how long it will be before Don Siegelman appeals his federal conviction based on the apparently overwhelming evidence that U.S. Attorneys were forced to pursue political cases against Democrats? 

That's the real tragedy in this whole scandal - that every prosecution of an elected official is now questionable. And in Siegelman's case, he could have a point. In light of everything that's come out, his indictment and prosecution could very well have been strictly political.</description>
