Bush Warns Dems To Take the Deal
He says he’ll let Rove and others testify about the US Attorney firings — but only privately, under oath, and without a transcript – and he’s warning the Democrats to accept that or face a big ol’ fight. He says he doesn’t want to let Congress go on a fishing expedition. Patrick Leahy isn’t backing down, and good for him.
Democrats’ response to his proposal was swift and firm. “Testimony should be on the record and under oath. That’s the formula for true accountability,” said Patrick Leahy (news, bio, voting record), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but haven’t the Bushies told us over and over that we shouldn’t have any problems with the FBI and Homeland Security plundering through our personal information? If we haven’t done anything wrong, we have no reason to worry, right?
So what’s the big deal about letting Karl Rove, Harriet Miers, and their deputies testify publicly and under oath? What do they have to hide?
And here’s another question. There is clear bipartisan concern over the handling of US Attorney firings (see here). So why does the MSM keep letting Bush pretend that this is a partisan investigation?

LOL! It’s a whole other can of worms when that invasion-of-privacy door swings both ways!

Yeah — do as I say, not as I do.

Well we don;t want them on the team. Can we get them kicked off for immorality?

“Can we get them kicked off for immorality?”
I’m sure Gen. Pace would go for that.
