Quote of the Day

“I’m of two minds about even talking about her, because I know that Ann Coulter needs publicity like a tapeworm needs a large intestine.”

- Rachel Maddow, Air America talk show host, on Countdown tonight

Clever quip, but Rachel should apologize to both tapeworm and large intestine populations.

  2. KathyF says:

My sentiments exactly. This whole thing is starting to sound overwrought. She called me a bad name, didja hear? Didja hear? Give me some money so I can fight back!

I just want that woman’s face off the cover of books. I’ve been mistaken for her once or twice–her fame is my shame.

KathyF, you have my sympathies. However, I’m sure those who might mistake you for Ms. Coulter would be disabused of that notion as soon as you open your mouth. I can’t see you taking juvenile jabs at those you don’t like and then claiming that it’s all just a joke.

I’d prefer not to give Ms. Coulter any personal publicity, but she’s apparently considered to be a spokesperson for the conservative movement — otherwise why would she be invited to speak to organizations like CPAC, which presumably have a serious mission? This isn’t the first time she’s publicly called a Democratic politician a fag; she did it on Hardball last year, but that didn’t prevent CPAC from inviting her to speak last week. She shows the true face of the hard right in this country, particularly the “religious” right, and that face needs to be exposed.
