The Long Wait Is Finally Over

Dan at Between the Links has put together the definitive list of Troy King’s greatest hits (or misses).  For those of you not from Alabama, Troy King is our sad excuse for an Attorney General, appointed when his predecessor Bill Pryor was confirmed to a federal judgeship (and inexplicably elected to a full term in November) and perhaps the only person in the state who could make Bill look highly competent and centrist by comparison.  Given Troy’s poorly reasoned legal opinions, inflammatory and bigoted public comments, and ethical issues, I’m surprised Dan could get everything into one post. :)

Thanks for wading through the slime and stupidity, Dan!

Well, it’s not really even complete. But it’s everything I could find at the time. I seem to remember 2 other opinions that were highly controversial, but I can’t remember what they were.

And I’ll probably add another one after the courts hears a case this month about Troy’s opinion on the AU trustee board appointments.

Worth reading. If nothing else alabama’s elected judicial officials almost always provide some entertainment. Albeit sortof like looking at a bad car accident as you drive by!

Remember all those BARD campaign contributions to Jefferson County commissioners right before the September 19 vote for the BARD floodplain ordinance (instead of the award-winning one written by the County Land Planning Department)? Gee, a look-see at King’s campaign finance reports turns up $4,000 from Highland PAC and $1,000 from BES PAC on 8-29-06. Both of these PACs are run by BARD spokesman Stephen Bradley. US Steel made two contributions to King in August, and Coalbed Methane Association contributed $2,000 on 8-29-06. Gee, do you suppose these BARD contributions and Ala Power’s gift of skybox seats to a Braves’ game had anything to do with the attorney general providing a ruling for Jeffco commissioner Mary Buckelew that gave the green light to the BARD ordinance that contractors and developers wanted so badly??

Oh, Sansou, surely you jest! Troy would never do anything ethically questionable. Just ask him. ;)

Thanks for the info. Following the money works every time.
