Nothing Like a Little Faux Outrage…

…to avoid the real issue.  During yesterday’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearings, Barbara Boxer asked Condoleeza Rice who would be making the sacrifices if US involvement in Iraq continues and escalates.

“Who pays the price?” Boxer (D-Calif.) asked Rice, who is unmarried and has no children. “I’m not going to pay a personal price. My kids are too old, and my grandchild is too young. You’re not going to pay a particular price, as I understand it, with immediate family. So who pays the price? The American military and their families.”

So — how did Dr. Rice address Sen. Boxer’s question?  Did she acknowledge that most of those who serve in the top levels of government don’t have family members in harm’s way?  Did she even comprehend the point that it’s easy to move players around on a military chessboard when those players are strangers?  Why, no.  Instead, she chose to run to Fox News and play the offended woman:

“In retrospect, gee, I thought single women had come further than that, that the only question is, ‘Are you making good decisions because you have kids?’ ” Rice said on Fox News.

And, as usual, that’s the story the media runs; the title of the linked story is “Rice Criticizes Sen. Boxer’s Comment on War”, not “Boxer Highlights Sacrifices of Military Families”.  Just more politics of distraction.  How long will we keep falling for it?

If Rice were a Democrat, we all know she would have deserved such alleged harsh treatment because everyone would have assumed she was a lesbian………..

Or we could see it for the baiting comment it was. Boxer is a nut job Westie. I really don’t look forward to the California Girls, Pelosi and Boxer, trying to push San Francisco values on the rest of the country…
