Here’s Joe Turnham’s Response

He is pissed! And well he should be. The State Democratic Executive Committee should overturn the ridiculous decision of the subcommittee and uphold Patricia Todd’s election. Saturday’s meeting will be interesting.

Thank God someone is pissed that matters — you know, someone besides average voters.

This whole thing is pretty humiliating for the party. I hope Saturday sets it right.

It seems rather obvious that the committee was straining to find a way out of this mess without appearing to “cave” to either side for any reason (i.e. race, orientation, etc.). The tortured logic that a by-law that has not been enforced with any other candidate since 1988 (oh the irony… trying to avoid the appearance of discrimination by, well, discriminating) would open the door to an election “do over” with less contentious results is pretty cowardly to say the least. Why make hard decisions that may anger voters when you can wash your hands of the whole affair and dump it in someone else’s lap.

    Nice.

We’ll find out what the party’s executive committee tomorrow. [...]
