By again, I mean in the runoff. My particular Democratic ballot had only two contested races — circuit court judge and Jefferson County sheriff. I’d already planned to vote for my former next door neighbor Mike Graffeo in the judicial race, and the sheriff’s race was an easy choice as well, given that Ron Blankenship turns out to be a convicted criminal who tried to fake his own death.
Our runoff was between sheriff and coroner, so it wasn’t too painful a process. Worried me because there wasn’t very many people in the polling place, that always disappoints me.
One of our Democratic candidates is our current sheriff, who is the only sheriff in the nation, that’s a convicted felon and cannot carry a firearm. He was the one who was letting the bootleggers stay open as long as he got something off the top, NOT his predecessor, that was letting the meth dealers sell drugs and took money from them, who ALSO did time in the Federal big house. This county I live in, is sooooo upstanding. At least that’s what all these conservative, gray haired, snobby “Christians” try to sell to outsiders. What a place to have come back to raise a family at. SIGHS
Isn’t that something to brag about? LOL
The other choice wasn’t much better in my opinion, but I bit the bullet and made a decision and followed through with it. So we shall see tonight who our Democratic candidate shall be.
Wow, Anna, I hadn’t heard that about your sheriff. I don’t guess he goes out on too many calls if he can’t carry a gun. How on earth did he ever get re-elected?
My mother says it was the older population that put him back in office. He’s in his 70’s himself, and served for years before his arrest and ultimate conviction. I can’t wait to find out if he won the run off today or not. Like I said, his opponent isn’t anything to write home about either, but at least he can carry a gun.
