Oh No You Don’t!

First, Larry Darby claimed to be a Democrat. Now he’s claiming to be a Christian.

Larry Darby, a former candidate for attorney general who lost in the Democratic primary but won most of North Alabama, said he is embracing Jesus as he crusades against “Judeo-Marxism.”

Darby, a Montgomery lawyer who received more votes in Huntsville than Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson, released a long written statement Friday saying that others in the atheist community had turned their backs on him.

“Contrary to expectation, many atheist member organizations or many groups that allegedly represent free thinkers were quick to jump on the Judeo-Marxist bandwagon and dis(a)ssociate themselves from me,” Darby wrote.

Okay, Larry, maybe you need to get clear on a few things before you say you follow Jesus. First, as Dan at Between the Links points out, Jesus was a Jew. And not just a Jew, but a rabbi as well. He certainly wasn’t an Aryan. Second, Jesus reached out to all manner of people who were considered inferior by Jewish custom: Samaritans, gentiles, women, tax collectors, shepherds, fishermen. He sent his disciples out to “all the nations”, and he didn’t exclude those populated by non-whites. Third, he preached love for God and neighbor and care for the poor and needy above all else. He never said a word about white superiority, capitalism, or hatred of gays. Finally, the early Christian community survived by selling all privately owned property and pooling resources. That system may not work today, but if we believe the Bible offers guidance on how to live, it could be considered the ideal to which we should aspire.

So don’t try to enlist Jesus in your battle against “Judeo-Marxism”. I don’t think he’s interested.

    Kathy,

I can’t add much to your well conceived piece on Mr. Darby’s theology. However, if this guy is changing back and forth between atheism and Christianity based on who supports his candidacy, he has much bigger issues to worry about than whether or not he should be Attorney General of Alabama.

Very good post. These people have seen way too many of the blue-eyed Jesus with long blond hair pictures that hang in houses all over the place….

  3. “Judeo-Marxism” — gotta love it! Mr. Darby clearly has strongly-held beliefs in… well, something (that will help get him elected).

I was once accused of writing something “Leninist-Marxist”, which I still find funny.

Sorry, Jane, but I don’t find white supremacist websites to be very informative. Perhaps you should work on your self-esteem so you would have more to be proud of than your skin color.

Read some of the articles before slamming shut your mind – or is your mind already welded shut by decades of jew supremacism in the USA? Rage Against the Machine, whether government-run schools, Commie organizations like SPLC, ACLU, ADL, UN and so on. Be proud that our forefathers founded a nation by and for Whites – not intended to be overrun by Third-Worlders.
