I haven’t done one of these in a while, so…for those of you just joining us, Daddy’s right lung (along with the tumor it contained) was removed at the end of March. Scans had shown no spread of the cancer, but three of the eleven lymph nodes that were removed and tested turned out to be malignant (bad) but not leaking cells (good). After a couple of months to recover from surgery, Daddy started back on a new chemo regimen this week. He’ll get one treatment every three weeks for the next eighteen weeks. The oncologist is using a new drug that’s supposed to be a bit easier to tolerate, but Daddy’s still feeling pretty rough. The most recent PET scan continues to show no cancer anywhere else, so we’re hoping this round of chemo will be the end of it.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers.
Kathy, thanks for the update. Prayers for feeling better, soon.
I hope it is the end of it and he feels much better soon! He’s in my thoughts and prayers.
I also pray for him, Kathy. My father is elderly and has prostate cancer. So, I do understand your feelings. God Bless.
My prayers for a complete recovery continue. Maybe the Big Guy upstairs has been hearing us and blessing your Daddy. Thanks for the update.
I hear of more and more people recovering completely from cancers previously thought to be very serious…your dad will be joining this group!
Thanks, all! Debbie, I hope your dad has a good prognosis. You’ll be in my prayers.
I say Amen to Kathy’s comment to Debbie, and add that I had prostate cancer back around 1983, at an unusually young age to have it. I was advised that normally it proceeds at a slow pace and if the onset occurs at an elderly age sometimes the best treatment is none at all because the patient will usually pass due to some other cause before the cancer runs its course. Because I was not all that old, I had my prostate gland removed.
Good luck and prayers go out to your family.
