Guilty!

The Enron verdict is in: Kenneth Lay guilty on all six counts, Jeffrey Skilling guilty on 19 of 28 counts. I can’t imagine any two people who deserve it more, unless it’s Andy Fastow, who’s already been sentenced to ten years in the Big House.

38 MILLION dollars spent on their defense. (I’m quoting from perhaps faulty memory, no time to re-read story)

Okay, let’s all take turns listing better uses for that money. Not obvious things like schools and hospitals and art classes for the disadvantaged. Let’s get creative. I’ll go first. Ipods and snazzy cell phones for scholarship kids at expensive colleges, who are spending all the cash they can scrapt together on textbooks and beer.

And they’ll spend millions more on appeals. My kids will be more than happy to take the cell phones and iPods. How about a trip to the space station for one lucky citizen? Thirty-eight million plus would probably cover that.

  3. Poser says:

I’m just glad their, “Everyone’s doing it” defense didn’t work. Kids everywhere would suddenly have precedent over their parents.

  4. Wheeler says:

reliable authorities say the sentencing guidelines calculation is 20 years to life for both of ‘em. probably closer to life.
