Judge Overturns GA Gay Marriage Ban…

on procedural grounds. Georgia law requires constitutional amendments to address only single subjects; this one apparently addressed three: marriage, civil unions, and the power of Georgia courts to rule in disputes in same-sex relationships. This meant that those who want to keep marriage between a man and a woman but who support civil union for gays didn’t have the option of voting on each separately. The state’s error in drawing up the amendment didn’t stop Gov. Sonny Perdue from going after “a single judge [who] has chosen to reverse this decision”.

Oh, of course — another “activist” judge, defined as a judge who rules in a way Sonny doesn’t like.
