Can You Say “Paranoid”?

Roy Moore is accusing George W. Bush of trying to make him lose the Republican primary. Bush came to Tuskegee University yesterday to push science (a real departure for him, but that’s another story), and Gov. Riley was there, too. Obvious evidence of a conspiracy, according to Roy. Common courtesy to the President, according to sane people.

Roy, I don’t know that appearing with Bush is going to help Riley that much. Even the citizens of Alabama are losing their taste for the W-flavored Kool-Aid. And whining never goes over well.

Moore seems to be throwing anything he can dream up against the wall to see if any of it will stick — “A drowning man grasping at straws.” I did my best to show him a populist issue that I think would help him when he phoned me a few weeks ago and asked if I would email a copy of the Initiative and Referendum bill to his wife for him to study, but apparently he can’t recognize a gift horse when it runs over him. At this point I think his best campaign strategy might be to duct-tape his lips.

I don’t think Roy really wants to be a populist. He might have to listen to ideas from non-Dominionists.
