This makes nine deliberately set Baptist church fires in less than a week. It turns out one of the six church fires last Thursday (in Chilton County) was accidental. Investigators think the other five, all in Bibb County, were related. Now the arsonists (if there are any arsonists) have branched out to Sumter, Pickens, and Greene counties.

cdc, I wish the motive was that straightforward — preacher says something offensive, nut overreacts (to put it mildly). I certainly wouldn’t condone the action, but I might be able to fathom why it was taken. These fires look more like thrill crimes, which I just don’t get at all.
