Pat’s At It Again

Pat Robertson is blaming God for Ariel Sharon’s stroke. The video at Media Matters is just chilling. Someone saying what Pat is saying should be twitching and foaming at the mouth, but he just sits there and matter-of-factly condemns any Prime Minister who divides God’s land. If God really does strike down people who don’t do what God wants, why is Pat still breathing?

Hat tip to The Green Knight.

If Rev. Robertson knows what God is going to do, why doesn’t he warn folks? And if God is now smiting fellows who divide, a repentant Robertson better have a word with the Big Guy. God knows where he lives. In fact, it’s a little surprising that he hasn’t already awakened with a Holy Hand Grenade in his boxers!

Look on the bright side, though: We didn’t elect Robertson president. American Jews might be forced to wear Stars of David on their lapels or something equally creative. Rev. Robertson just seems a little too eager for fellow humans to suffer — Hugo Chavez, for example — for a clergyman. Say a prayer for poor Pat.

  2. Could someone puh-leeze shut Pat Robertson up?

You know, this guy has done more damage to Christian fundamentalism, Evangelicalism and the Christian right than the Saudis, the Iranians, the Syrians and Tomas de Torquemada combined.

  3. I dunno–every time I saw Sharon waddling around, a heart attack waiting to happen, I almost had to wonder if God was intervening to keep him ALIVE.

But I’m untrained in the science of theology. But I think the line between God and Pat has thinned to the point in his mind that God is made in Pat’s image…so if Pat sez it, it is as good as the burning bush.

I really think Roberston is in some stage of dementia. If it is indeed dementia, I just hope it turns into some sort of violent unhappy dementia where he is tormented, instead of a happy dementia where he just goes off into lala land. Harsh? yes. But does the bastard deserve it? definitely.

You post needs just one word. AMEN

Robertson is crazy, but possibly crazy like a fox. Remember the “he should be assassinated” event not so long ago? I read a column (sorry, can’t find link yet) that noted Robertson’s business interests, and how a spike in attention for his rantings was nothing but good new for ol’ Rev. Pat’s pocketbook.

“More blessed money for me! Um, wait, to save those poor lost souls! AMEN!”

He reminds me mostly of those goofy people who CANNOT walk past a microphone without hamming it up — you know, those who compulsively karaoke?

Except he gets rich while spouting hateful bullshit.

I notice the WH has condemned
Mr. Robertson’s remarks. I guess we should be grateful for that crumb. (Sorry to link to a paid site but can’t find another web site carrying the story)

That’s good to know — it’s about time Bush distanced himself a bit more from Robertson.

  8. Paul says:

I find it amusing that Pat R. thinks that God is in the real estate business. Do you think the good Lord could find me some cheap acreage on a hillside? Good schools and convenient to the interstate would help. Think of the money you would save since you wouldn’t need security or alarms. Any one who tried to steal your stuff would be struck down from above. Alleluia Amen!

I’m sure the Rev thinks God is giving him the land for his Jesus theme park right on the Sea of Galilee. I, on the other hand, think God may want to puke.
