Youngest Daughter is eight today. She was born on a chilly Sunday night after an easy labor and a more exciting delivery than I would have liked. The umbilical cord looped so tightly around her neck that the doctor had to cut it before she could come out. She still talks about the man who saved her life, but I can’t even remember his name. He was part of a team of OB-GYNs at a huge local practice, and he was the only one I’d never seen during the previous nine months. I’m very grateful to Dr. No-Name.
Eight-Year-Old Daughter is a very high energy child. She is rarely still unless she is absorbed in a book or a computer game. She loves soccer, riding her bike, climbing trees, and playing golf with my parents. She keeps me busy trying to answer her endless questions about life and how the world works. She adores her older sisters. Oldest Daughter returns the feeling; Twelve-Year-Old Daughter does not, although I frequently remind 12YOD that she begged us for a little sister for two years.
She still adores her parents, at least for a few more years, and we adore her as well. We’re glad she was born. Happy Birthday, 8YOD!
We adore her a BUNCH! Happy Birthday, Al!
Happy Birthday Allie! I hope your day is wonderful! :o)
And more birthday wishes. I sometimes think we forget to celebrate the mothers who did all the work when we celebrate the entrance of another life. So, happy birthing day to you, Kathy!
I’m delighted to hear of 8 yo energy. We had an evening of “energy” with our 7 yo boy and thought something might be wrong. Whew.
Happy Birthday! (and your mom is right about Anderson being too good for Ryan)
I’m with Renee. And on my daughter’s bday, I blogged about her birth too. Hey! It’ll be a new meme!
12YOD wants to know why I “never” write about her on the blog. I tell her she hasn’t had a birthday since I started it, but I’ll get her next time around.
