Cheney and Libby Withheld Info from Senate Investigation

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Blogenfreude has the story. Cheney and Libby apparently chose to withhold information from the Senate Intelligence Committee investigating the intelligence failures that helped lead to the Iraq war. They thought it would be better to make the CIA look bad than to take any blame for a bad decision.
Tomorrow may be the day. [...]

Plame Probe: No Announcement Today

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Fitzgerald’s office says there will be no announcement regarding the leak probe before tomorrow. Come on, Patrick! The suspense is killing us.
Everyone take a deep breath and prepare to be patient for one more day. *Sigh*

Miers Withdraws Nomination

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination to the Supreme Court. I don’t know what Bush was thinking when he nominated her in the first place, but he clearly infuriated the wingnuts. He should have known that he’d be asked to provide more information about her, and he’s not about to reveal any information [...]

Sick Child Blues Redux

Wednesday, October 26th, 2005

Monday, October 24th, 2005

St. Peter was waiting at the Pearly Gates for Mrs. Parks to give her a seat in the front row of heaven. What an amazingly brave woman! I wish she could have lived to see the 50th anniversary celebration of the bus boycott, but her spirit will be walking with the children of [...]

Hearing November 1 on DeLay’s Judge

Monday, October 24th, 2005

A retired judge has been chosen to hear Tom DeLay’s motion for a new judge. The hearing is set for November 1, so I guess we’ll know something soon. After all, DeLay has the right to a speedy trial — probably the last thing he wants. DeLay is not just a last [...]

Wilma Lashing Florida

It’s hitting hard.

Gimme an “Alpha”

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

I missed tropical storm Alpha this weekend. It’s now weakened to a tropical depression and is expected to be absorbed by Wilma as she passes over Florida.
Twenty-two tropical storms and hurricanes in the past five months, the most ever in a single season. A tropical storm that formed Saturday in the Caribbean [...]
