Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination to the Supreme Court. I don’t know what Bush was thinking when he nominated her in the first place, but he clearly infuriated the wingnuts. He should have known that he’d be asked to provide more information about her, and he’s not about to reveal any information about the inner workings of his administration.
I wonder how long it will take for Bush to name another nominee. He needs to distract his base from the rest of the mess going on in Washington, so I expect it will be soon. And whoever it is will be much, much worse than Miers.
The GOP damage control team was planning to use Miers hearing (to begin Nov. 7) to deflect from Fitzgerald’s bad news. Well, back to the drawing board to come up with new distractions. Interesting story on the web right now that lays out their strategy of deflection.
It sure was fun watching the ‘wingnuts’ attack themselves. Demos didn’t have to say a word, just kicked back and watched the nuts fall to pieces.
Heehee. I am scared what new nominee horror Dubya will trot forth.
